Painting And Decorating Enhancing The Beauty Of Your Home.

So youve decided. Your house needs a lick of paint. Now before you choose a colour have a good think about areas in your house that you want to make the most of. Have you got a room that feels just too small even for an office? Is your hallway tunnel like? Have you got that one room where there just isnt enough light?

We all have parts of our homes where we would like to change something but just dont know how Read along and you will find out just how to make the most of those parts of your house that you would rather forget they exist.

Create the illusion of more space.
No need for costly extensions and architects. Colour can be used to change the shape of the room. Of course were not saying the paint will magically move the walls but it will create the illusion of doing so and thats all you need.
A darker colour will make the walls appear closer to you and the lighter colours make the walls appear to be further away.
Having said that dont just go for all white. You can have a bit of fun with colours choosing off white colours and still keeping that room light and spacious.
Once youve painted it remember that less is more in small spaces, so dont put too much furniture and your box bedroom will change into light and breezy office.
If you struggling with making your hallway less claustrophobic try painting the end wall a darker shade than the side walls that will give it a look of space.

Make the most of little natural light.
In nearly every home you will find one room that just doesnt benefit from much natural light, whether its a bathroom or an office. Suppress the urge to paint it eye-wateringly white to make it brighter. Instead of creating the hospital look go for warm darker colours or even bold patterned wallpapers. That way you will create more intimate atmosphere. Add a nice warm light and your undesired downstairs bathroom is the talk of the neighbourhood.

Create a flow through your home.

When youre re-decorating your home you want to keep some sort of the scheme. Of course we are not saying keep all rooms the same colour. No, no, no! You do need some colour in your house so what we are suggesting is to choose colours that all have the same tonal weight. Its good to decorate floor by floor, so i.e. your ground floor hallway will be in Cornforth White and your first floor in Elephants Breath. (Farrow & Ball Paint Colours)

By using darker colours in a hallway you will make your rooms seem brighter.
Lastly if you are not afraid of change try painting walls light colours and woodwork darker. That way you will create light and space in your home, but only if youre going for neutral scheme.
Quite simply by using darker colours on skirting your walls will appear lighter in contrast.

Finding the right people for the job.

Fancy rolling your sleeves up and painting the entire house yourselves? Of course that is one way to do it, but if you really want your home to look great its best to get the professionals in. Were not saying you couldnt do it yourself but lets face it, re-decorating is a rather daunting DIY job. And another thing is that once you get the right painters and decorators in you will see how your home becomes the palace from your dreams. Its easy to simply paint the house, but to get that great finish you need the professional eye and the experience of someone who has been doing it for a while.

Discover 9 Natural Cures For Hemorrhoids That Actually Work!

Finding an all-natural treatments for piles that work is not generally easy.

Are you coping with painful and hemorrhaging interior or exterior hemroids?

Nobody is going to argue with you especially not here, the pain that is associated with hemorrhoids is just terrible. If you’re looking for a quick fix or a secret elixir, this website is not for you. It’s too bad but there are so many people wasting so much money on hemorrhoid products that don’t work. By only masking the symptoms and not getting to the causee of hemorrhoids, these products only make you sicker in the long haul.

I’d start out by asking myself these types of questions:

After you’re done going poop do you see blood anywhere?
Is your rectum constantly itching you and causing embarrasing problems?
When you’re not in the bathroom do you accidentally leak out poo?
Does your anal opening have lots of sharp pain associated with it?

Remember your body is not deficient in some medicattion that will help you heal. Your body doesn’t need drugs to heal. People need to know that and stop reaching for chemicals and toxins in order to find short term relief. How about drinking more water, getting more sleep and letting go of chemical toxins that cause headaches to begin with. Your best long term solution is to help the body heal from hemorrhoids using natural medicines. Using chemicals and medication only puts a mask over the symptoms and never gets to the rood of the problem, which is why you hemorrhoids in the first place.

Where do hemorrhoids come from?

Dehydration
Not washing properly after using the bathroom
Pushing really hard when going poo
Constipation
A total lack of proper metabolic circulation caused by a lack of good exercise
Poor diet
Anxiety

How can I prevent ever having hemorrhoids? Hemorrhoids is actually a chronic lifestyle habit that manifests itself in the form of what the thesaurus identifies as: “an unusually enflamed vein mainly due to a persistent increase in venous stress, occurring inside the rectal sphincter of the rear end and beneath the mucous (internal hemorrhoid) or outside the rectal sphincter and underneath the surface area of the anal dermis (external hemorrhoid).”

So what you have to do to prevent hemorrhoids from coming back is drinking enough water, eating a high fiber high mineral diet, and exercise more often. Rebounding is great but not if you have prolapsed hemorrhoids, minimize stress, and don’t strain when defecating etc.

If I already have a bad case of hemorrhoids what is the most natural way to get them to go away?

Aloe vera
Bilberry
Butcher’s Broom
Sitz Baths
Aluminum Free Baking Soda
Apple cider vinegar treatment
Horse Chestnut
Witch Hazel
Bioflavonoids

But how can I use these natural cures for hemorrhoids?
The herbs and remedies above are all natural so they will not screw up your body. You’re probably asking yourself what are the best ways to impliment these natural cures for hemorrhoids into your daily life right? Using these herbal compounds correctly is essential and will help you get rid of your hemorrhoids much faster than if you used them in the wrong order and at the wrong times.

The reason why I know all that is because I read a book called The H-Miracle that explained all this in great details.

Qualifying For Home Improvement Loans With Bad Credit

Obtaining Financing to Make Home Improvements

One of the first things you need to consider with financing for home improvements is how you plan to handle the work. There are three predominant methods for financing: refinance your existing mortgage, apply for an equity loan or obtain an equity line of credit. Which one is best for you? Real-Estate-Yogi.com can provide answers to some questions that can help you answer that question such as:

1) Do you plan to do the work immediately or stretch it out over time?
2) Do you need all the money for the contractor up front?
3) Do you plan to use the money for things other than just home improvements?
4) What is the total cost of the project?

All of these factors play into the picture and will provide the best answer concerning financing. If you would like to discuss your needs with a Real-Estate-Yogi.com consultant, fill out the form that appears on the website and someone will contact you right away.

What about Those Who Have Bad Credit?

Can you obtain home improvement loans with bad credit? Like any other loan finding a lender for a home improvement loan when you have bad credit is difficult but not impossible. However, since these loans are full-secured by the equity in your home they are probably easier to obtain than other types of loans. In fact, you may even find a favorable interest rate since the lender will be taking minimal risk. Because of the current real estate situation you may need to have a higher percentage of equity in the home than you would have when real estate prices were higher.

Where to Find Loans for Home Improvements when You Have Bad Credit

While it may be difficult it is not impossible to find Bad Credit Home Improvement Loans. In fact there are some lenders who don”t care about anything but the equity in the home while others are much more stringent in their credit requirements. The key is conducting the research and choosing the lender that you think is the most likely to have the willingness to help you with the project you have in mind.

How do you get a home improvement loan? Finding home improvement loans with bad credit is not impossible although it is definitely more challenging. Obtaining financing for home improvements requires a great deal of thought in order to assess the best method for financing your loan. Bad credit home improvement loans are not as difficult to qualify for as unsecured loans although you may have to pay higher interest rates as you would if you had good credit.

Black Marks Between The Carpet And The Skirting Boards

Black marks between the carpet and the skirting boards are just nasty. But they can be dealt with effectively with some sealant, some carpet cleaners and elbow grease.

Light coloured carpets make a room nice and cosy. Some people go for stark elegance in a room, so they choose a pristine white carpet to achieve this look. But no matter what kind of look you are trying to get into a room, you would not be successful if you end up having black marks between your carpet and the skirting boards of your room. These black marks under the skirting boards and on light-coloured carpet are just nasty.

What causes these black marks on carpets right under the skirting boards? The culprit that you are looking for is air. Air is everywhere; we all know that. And in houses, air under the flooring can escape through gaps and leave behind it a trail of dirt and dust. Thus, when black marks appear on the carpet directly under the boards, it means there are gaps on the flooring and the wall that is being used as an air vent.

The solution to this dilemma is clearly to fill the gaps that serve as the escape route for air. It is an easy enough solution and all the supplies that you need to buy are some flexible sealants, flexible tape, cedar paper and a carpet knife.

The first step to solving the problem is to pull back the carpet to expose the gaps. If you need to cut it with your carpet knife, go ahead and do it. Once you are done, just pull the carpet back. Afterwards, remove the layers of carpet underlay underneath the actual carpet, again to expose the gaps under the skirting boards.

Before you start working on sealing the gaps, clean first the area underneath the skirting boards so you would not have to deal with dirt trapped in your sealants. Sweep it, vacuum it, wipe it away, or just do anything you need to do in order to get the dirt out of there.

Once the gaps are clean and dry, apply the flexible sealant into the gaps. Let the sealant dry, and then slip the cedar paper into the space underneath the skirting boards. Tape the paper in place by using the flexible tape. In finishing this, you have just put a stopper on the escape route the dirty air is using.

This just leaves you to deal with the dirty stain on your carpet. Before you deal with that, you first replace all the carpet underlay that you removed prior to working on the gaps underneath the skirting boards. After you have replaced the carpet underlay, you may refit the carpet as you see fit. Then we get to the cleaning part. It is just collected dust, so all you need to do is to get a hardworking carpet cleaner to get the job done.

Light-coloured carpets are lovely in a room, but they can be nasty when there are black marks on the place where the carpet meets the skirting boards. Just stop the gap under the skirting boards, and your carpets will be fine.

The 5 Most Stressful Days of the Year

Some days are a lot more stressful than others if you take into account everyday life aspects. Aspects like your career, your marriage or relationship, or even paying your bills on time.

Every day events certainly warrant stress relief management tactics, but every few months your stress is exponentially compounded on specific days of the year.

Here is a list of 5 of the most stressful days of the year:

#5 Thanksgiving
What could possibly be stressful about a family gathering to eat some turkey and watch some football? Hopefully, you have been through enough Thanksgivings to pick up on my sarcasm in the previous question. The turkey and football are definitely effective stress reducers in their own right, provided the Lions play a competitive game. The turkey provides a scientifically engineered excuse to skip forced family conversations and doze off for a while.

#4 Finals
For students, it’s make or break time. For parents, it signals time to prepare your home for their summer or extended return home. There is a good chance that their finals will go well and all their extensive fretting and preparation will have paid off. Just like any other stressful day or situation, there is a period of stress release expected. Do your poor, over achieving student a favor and foot the tab for a night out (given they are 21 or older of course!)

#3 January 4th
Researchers have pinpointed January 4 to be the most stressful day of the year. They say that the perfect storm of cold weather, economic gloom, and the end of Christmas cheer will leave many temporarily sad and depressed.

Judi James, a psychologist and expert in communications and body language, said:”January can be one of the most stressful times of the year between sale shopping and recovering from the excesses of the party season, which can stimulate negative behaviors such as rising tension, stress levels and blood pressure.”

#2 Tax Day
April 15th. Many of us taxpaying, ever tax write off searching adults know this day all too well. Consider yourself lucky if you or your highly accredited tax professional has decided that a return is headed your way. For those who have to scrounge up funds to meet the deadline experience a lot more stress leading up to this day. April 15th isn’t just stressful for tax payers; it takes a toll on all those involved in the process. Immediately move this day to the #1 most stressful day if it has resulted or results in an audit.

#1 Christmas
As parents, you most likely guessed this one. But even without highly expecting children to shop for, Christmas is easily the most stressful time of the year. Scouring malls and department stores looking for the latest and greatest gifts can leave you physically and emotionally exhausted.

If it isn’t finding the perfect gift to please the loved or hated one you’re shopping for, it’s the management of available cash or credit to purchase for all of those on your list. Shopping is only half of the holiday battle as you will still have to attend a “joyous” family gathering or worse yet, host the event yourself.

Don’t Set Goals, GET Goals – A Simple 4-Step Process to Get Any Goal – Guaranteed!

I love the idea of setting new goals… new income goals, new goals for relationships, new fitness goals, weigh loss goals, etc. I always feel really good when I’ve cleared the slate and determined a new achievement I want for myself. We all do, right?

Many people stop right at the beginning… they set a goal and then HOPE that they can get their goals. What if we could take the HOPE right out of the picture and KNOW that we can get to our goals? We can!

4 Steps to GET Your Goals

Step One – Identify what your goals are. This sounds really simple, but most people don’t even know what they want. There are a TON of really great goal-setting programs all over the web. Pick one, and spend some time developing your goals. Then write your goals down. There is real power and magic in writing your goals down. Don’t believe me? Google “Harvard Goal Writing Study” and see for yourself.

Step Two Be present, all the time, with your goal. Be aware of what you are looking to achieve.

Step Three EVERYTIME you are faced with a decision, ask yourself, “Is the result of this decision going to take me closer, or further away, from my goal?” Let me repeat that “IS THE RESULT OF THIS DECISION GOING TO TAKE ME CLOSER, OR FURTHER AWAY, FROM MY GOAL?”

Step Four Never leave a decision un-acted upon. This is truly important. You must take the required action to get any goal. This can be the most difficult step. If your goal is to lose weight and you are presented with a choice between a beautiful vintage red wine and water, it can be extraordinary difficult to choose to drink water. However, if you continue to make goal-oriented choices, you will reach your goals!

Go and GET YOUR GOALS!

What Is So Good About Amtico Wood Flooring

Amtico flooring is just about the most hardwearing and practical alternative to real wood.

A huge selection of Amtico flooring in the latest natural wood designs that are available These range from the softest grains such as white maple, to the mid toned classic oaks, and on to the darkest colour in our range Wenge Wood.

All Amtico woods are genuine British made commercial grade (not the Asian made Spacia or Karndean) and are manufactured in ‘tick’ finish in the standard 114mm x 915mm standard size.

Choosing an Amtico floor means you don’t have to worry about long term maintenance- your floor will never need sanding or re-finishing. The tough hardwearing surface will repel stains and moisture making it an ideal choice for wet areas such as bathrooms and shower rooms, and heavy wear areas like hallways and entrance lobbies.

Amtico wood authentically replicates the natural product and it’s true characteristics. The Stripwood is highly variable in grain and decoration. Please consider this in your product choice as online images only display a small section of the material.

Installing Amtico wood flooring can be undertaken by any reasonably competent DIYer with little in the way of equipment. If you are laying onto an existing wood floorboard, chipboard, or MDF sub-floor, it is always good practice to install a new plywood base first. This ensures long term wear, it will also prevent undulations showing through your new flooring.

If your sub-floor is reasonably flat, 6mm exterior grade moisture resistant plywood is adequate. This should be fixed at 15-20cm centers with screw nails. If your sub-floor is old and extremely uneven, a thicker grade plywood 9mm or 12mm should be used. However before fixing this, level off any hollows with a latex screed compound. Otherwise the plywood will never be completely flat.

After installing the plywood, spend as much time as possible filling any gaps in the joints, and knocking down nails flat. Then take down any high spots with a medium grade sand paper. More Time taken on preparing the sub-floor will produce huge dividends when you have installed you new Amtico, so do not be tempted to cut any corners.

Depending on how flat and smooth you have managed to make the prepared sub-floor, it may be necessary to apply a further leveler such as Ardex “Feather Finish” which can be applied thinly without the risk of de-bonding

When you are installing over a solid floor e.g. concrete, asphalt, quarry tiles, stone flags etc. it is important that your do a thorough check of the moisture content of the sub-floor. Even a minute amount of moisture in a sub-floor will cause Amtico flooring to start lifting within a very short period of time. Your investment will then be wasted, as the floor will be beyond repair.

Check in the first instance for the presence of a dpm, which should be visible on your outside, walls maybe the first or second line of brick or stone. If there is none evident, and your house was built before 1960, then it is wise to assume that there is no damp proof membrane in the sub-floor.

Bamboo Kitchen Cabinets – A Look at Bamboo Cabinets

Selecting wood based products is harder these days since we want to find products made from sustainable produced raw materials. What can bamboo do to fulfill these needs? Can it really work for your kitchen decorating needs?

One of the main things we have to consider when choosing a wood species for any wood product is how it looks in our home. While making responsible choices for the environment is attractive, it loses some of its appeal if the final result is no the look we had hoped for. But bamboo can come through with the look that your to create the aesthetic appeal you are looking for.

Bamboo is grown in many areas of the world, but like any harvested products some growers are more concerned with using a sustainable process, while others are just in it for a fast buck. Some areas like Costa Rica have a fairly good record for sustainability in the overall process of growing and cutting of bamboo. Bamboo can usually be cut when it is about five or six years old. It is a member of the grass family, so it will grow back quickly.

Bamboo wood products are quite hard, harder than many conventionally used hardwoods like oak. After it’s finished it has good dimensional stability as well, so the smooth functioning of your cabinet doors and drawers will not degrade over time. Bamboo is so hard that its nickname is green steel.

As you may expect, many retailers for bamboo products have locations in California. But this is not just a west coast idea, and as their popularity increases it is easier to find retailers in other major cities like Chicago and New York.

There are a number of companies that will fashion custom bamboo cabinets for your home. In addition there are manufacturers who manufacture modular cabinet units in sizes that will fit most homes, so you can get a custom look for a much lower cost.

Bamboo cabinets will be a featured part of your home decor. These cabinets are good looking, you can get them in a variety of finishes, and because the wood is durable they will last for a long time, yet they come from a sustainable resource, so you can minimize the impact on our environment.

Colorism – A Silent Bias in the World of Diversity

Colorism, what is it? The word “diversity” when used in the workplace conjures up many meanings, often determined by where in the world you are. In the United States and especially in the southern states most people immediately think- race. In some parts of the US and within most other countries, people will think- race and gender. Within organizations that have launched diversity and inclusion initiatives the meaning of “diversity” broadens to include LGBTQ, age, abilities and many of the other differences among us that when respected creates a healthy and productive diversity of thought. Rarely, however do people think of colorism as an aspect of diversity and bias.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. Although the word ‘color’ is included as one of the many factors protected against discrimination, my work nationally and internationally continually surfaces an unconscious bias related to skin color regardless of ethnicity. In the US, until the 60s and 70s, the darker an African American person’s complexion the less likely that person would reach a high status in the workplace; the lighter the complexion and straighter the hair the more likely teachers Black and White would favor that child. Although thankfully this bias is fading as it relates to job advancement, research still indicates that little girls prefer to have fair skin and believe dark skin is bad and/or ugly. In the 80s and still present today, various media depict lighter skin tones as more attractive, and darker skin tone scary or dangerous.

My global work reveals the same bias. Often I am told, we just need to focus on gender equity because race is not an issue here, our culture is open and accepting. I am told, we are all French, or English, or Mexican no race or ethnic bias exists here. Yet, when I observe the community at large and the workplaces in particular, bias regarding tone of skin is evident. The lighter the skin the higher the position held. Immigrants and their descendants in countries around the world with darker skin hold the less prestigious jobs. Globally, skin lightening creams are sold and used even when the people, usually women, using them know of the potential health dangers.

The root of this bias runs deep. Perhaps that is why the acts of discrimination are so unconscious. Many communities and organizations celebrate diversity during the month of October. As you do so, I invite you to take a real look at color.
